Why DE WOOZLES?

One of the key characteristics of my prints is the paper. The entirety of paper that is used in digital printing is synthetic in nature and that can be visible, depending on the quality of paper. However, I wanted my prints to fell as authentic to the atmosphere of the originals as it is possible. That’s why I chose a paper that isn’t used in digital print, the Mi-Teintes® paper – a cardboard made by the French company Canson®, a well-known manufacturer of materials for artistic use.
Such paper selection, in turn, dictated the method of preparing the picture used for printing . As a result, it is not some reprinted scan of a book illustration, it is a painstakingly redrawn copy of the original.

And why De Woozles?

DE WOOZLES brand was registered in 2017, but started a few years earlier with the Moomins. The basic part of the name DE WOOZLES was taken from “Woozles” What kind of Woozles? Such Woozles:

The prefix “De” comes from “The Moomins”, specifically from the English title “The Moomins”.TV Series The British adaptation of “Opowiadania Muminków” from the Polish SE-MA-FOR company ( yes, it is the original ), thanks to Richard Murdoch’s climatic narrative, is for me the best Moomin series ever. Much better than the Polish original.

And no, it wasn’t like I thought long and hard about the name of my brand. All I wanted was for it not to be associated with anything else but me.

Google was my inspiration. Well, who associated anything with the phrase g-o-o-g-l-e before google appeared? I remember the time when google didn’t exist.

But this arrangement of letters g-o-o-g-l-e neatly catches the eye. And I am primarily a visual person. And I wanted my brand name to be unique. It had nothing to do with anything else but me. And it easily and unambiguously registered in the eye.

And no, I didn’t think much about it. I came up with this name on the run when I was going to the appropriate office to register my brand. I was standing at the tram stop and then it dawned on me. WOOZLES. These strange creatures, something between elephants and rats, are so similar to me.

Since I already knew that it is impossible to earn too much in Poland, it had to be at least a little in English. But since I’m Polish, I polonized it a bit. And so from “The Moomins” to English “Woozles” I added Polish “De” phonetically instead of “The”.
